Interview with Mark Elley

Name: Mark Elley

Date of Interview: January 22, 2007

Area of Italy you live or will live in?

Le Marche

Let us know a little about yourself?

I am married. Wife is Lynda. We have one daughter and a grandson(7 mos.)I teach gifted students. I used to be a swim coach in Cananda and the USA for 39 years.

Why have you decided to move to Italy?

We are planning to move in 2 1/2 years after I retire. We have been going to Italy since 1971, have a good grasp of the language and love the people. We have had a few extended stays and try to stay away from touristy areas, if possible. We need a change in our life. Immigrating will not be as hard for us since we have gone through the red tape before.

What type of process did you go through to be able to move here?

Just started with bank account, codice and realtors. We will get a visa for old retired folks.

If you haven't gotten here yet, what steps are you in the process of ?

We have looked at lots of property. We also have friends in Italy that are helping us out. We have travelled to Le Marche(where we intend to settle) at different times of the year to see the area. We have priced cars, appliances tec. and also spent lots of time on ExPats learning and gleaning info.

Do you think that you will stay forever?

That will depend on the dollar, our health and whether we miss the family.
