Interview with Georgina

Name: Tracey

Date of Interview: September 29, 2006

Area of Italy you live or will live in?

Pisa/Lucca

Let us know a little about yourself?

45 y o married, two children, a boy nearly 16 and a girl 13.

Why have you decided to move to Italy?

It's kind of crept up on us! Starting taking hols there about 15 years ago, liked it, kept going back. Took the plunge and bought a house about 2 years ago for holidays etc. Seem to spend a fair bit of time going backwards and forwards. A set of circumstances has arisen that has made us realize that we could, in fact, make a permanent home there. Seems the natural progression of things for us. So anyway, all being well we are hoping to be there by next summer.

If you haven't gotten here yet, what steps are you in the process of ?

Our daughter will be coming with us. She will be 14 1/2 then. After a lot of thought we have decided she would be better finishing her secondary education at an International school so our priority so far has been seeking out somewhere suitable in our area. We are going to visit it next month when we return to Italy. Once that is sorted we are going to search for a convenient place to rent as we feel our house is too remote for permanent living with a teenager. During this time in rented, we will continue to look for a place to put down proper roots.

What inside secret could you pass on to others looking to move over?

Learn some language

Do you think that you will stay forever?

Yes, that's the idea, although recent life experiences have taught us that you never know what's around the corner!!

Comments?

I have been on other Italy/ expat sites but I really like this one.. It's absolutely bursting with information, other users seem sooo helpful and the atmosphere's good. Nice one
