4 Months and Still No Letter?

Hey everyone, I had my appointment to present my documents for citizenship Jure Sanguinis in San Francisco last March.  It has been approx. four and a half months and I have not heard anything regarding my application.  I have read on numerous websites of people from the SF consulate receiving their letters of acceptance in 2-8 weeks of their appointments.  I haven't seen anyone say they waited longer than 8 weeks.

Should I be concerned?  All my documents were 100% clear, I fail to understand what the holdup could be...

4 months and still waiting

Send Mr Cei at the San Francisco Consulate an e-mail with your question.  He will give a better answer than anyone on this forum..

We are now in the middle of summer.  You may be sitting until vacationers return in September.

Not sure about San Francisco,

Not sure about San Francisco, but Miami does not turn around applications that fast. When I applied 3 or so years ago I asked and was told to expect about 4 months. When it had been 5 months I sent an email asking about the status, and magically I got a message that said the letter was in the mail. Who knows if I just had uncanny timing or they realized they had dropped the ball, but the contact did work out.

I can't remember how long it

I can't remember how long it took from Philadelphia for me, but I do remember starting to wonder, and I do know it was longer than 4 months...(seems like it was about 6 months, but this was when they still sent things over to the NY Consulate to authenticate my NY documents - a process I am told they have now turned over to the applicant to be done before the appointment.)

But I am sure a gentle, polite, query probably woudln't be out of order.  Good luck!

I should have posted this

I should have posted this sooner.  My letter arrived today, and after a 2 year process I am finally an Italian citizen smiley!  Excited does not even begin to describe the way I feel right now!

Rest assured that you are and

Rest assured that you are and have been an Italian citizen for your entire existence on Planet Earth. The letter you received merely recognizes that fact.

Congratulations!

How things change

Amazing what a difference a few years make. I just received JS from Miami in the beginning of June. Here's the low down on Miami. Appointment times are out 23 months. Turn around for a friend of mine in April was 2 weeks. My letter arrived 8 days after my appointment on June 6, 2012 and I went down for my passport the following week. All done and complete and I will be in Italy permanently within the next 2-3 months.

Wow, that is fast. I didn't have to wait as long for an appointment though, so it all evened out and still got it done.

Really?  I was told at my appointment to wait 3 months after receiving my letter to apply for the passport.  They said if the comune hasn't registered me before I try to get the passport it can raise red flags and potentially start a frivolous fraud investigation.  I'm planning on moving in January, so I don't mind waiting, but odd how we received different instructions.

Not sure what to say

Well, the only thing I can say...is the last two were within 2 weeks of the appointment. The letter was specific with respect to an invitation to secure one's passport. As runawaylawy indicated, it appears to be a wash in tiome. Miami is getting worst with extended appointments. I can say this though, and this is only my opinion. There is no way that the documents could have been sent to Italy for approval and returned that quickly. I also had to have the Philadelphia consulate verify my form 3 I believe.

As a side note, I did make a joke when I went in with regard to my ancestor. My nonno's last name is Monti as in the same as the new PM of Italy and from the same region. That is true......smiley, but it was a joke and I am sure had nothing to do with anything......just a funny story to share. My friend who received his citizenship before happened in 2 weeks. Miami must have special approval privilages.....what else could it be.

I am just amazed and

I am just amazed and delighted at the very short processing times I'm reading here for recognition of JS citizenship.  When I applied in San Francisco in 2005, it took 3 years from the time I submitted my documents to receiving my letter, and that was with all of my documents in order - no unusual circumstances.  That's just how it was back then.

Congratulazioni!!!
