Sep 2010 - applied at NYC Italian Consulate
Oct 2010 - obtained K number, case status becomes available online

Dec 2011 - Sono stati acquisiti i pareri - la pratica è in fase di valutazione finale
Dec 2011 - Sono stati acquisiti i pareri necessari ? il decreto di concessione è agli organi competenti per la firma
Jan 2012 - l'istruttoria si è conclusa favorevolmente; è in corso di trasmissione il provvedimento di concessione alla Prefettura che ne curerà la notifica. Se risiede all'estero, il decreto sarà inviato all Autorità Consolare.
Jan 2012 - il decreto di concessione è stato firmato; sarà contattato dalla Prefettura per la notifica del provvedimento e dopo la notifica dovrà recarsi presso il Comune di residenza per il giuramento. Se risiede all'estero sarà contattato dall'Autorità consolare competente.

Feb-Mar 2012 - sent numerous emails to NYC consulate regarding the oath scheduling
Apr 2012 - oath scheduled at NYC Italian consulate - had to reschedule due to spouse unavailibilty
May 2012 - took an oath
June 2012 - case finally complete, officially an Italian citizen (after numerous emails to NYC consulate)
June 2012 - Italian passport obtained
* still need to correct mistakes on my italian birth certificate due to wrongfully communicated data to my Comune by NYC consulate

And thank you for posting this information - it is very helpful. How did you go about requesting your K number?
You have to call Ministry of Foreign Affairs - search the forum for the tel. #, provide them with your info and they will give you your K number, then go to Ministry of Internal Affairs website to track the progress or better say lack thereof.

If you remember, my wife applied at the same time as you. I never got a "k" # do you think that the consulate will know if her application was accepted? Did you ge a letter from Italy?

of course I remeber you. I was wondering about your progress as well.
I was following my status online by checking once in couple of months. After things got moving and I reached the final stade I emailed NYC consulate and of course got a response that they have not received my decree from Italy.
So I sent numerous emails to Rome and NYC consulate and "eventually" my Decree arrived in NYC. After taking an oath you get a Decree from the consulate, nothing comes from Italy directly.
For you to find out what's going on - you have to find out your K number and go from there. You can always send an email to the Consulate, but that will probably take you nowhere.
