OK. I'm moving my blog to a new address: www.expatsinitaly.com/blogs/joanna
See you there!

From the 18th through the 22nd I was in Istanbul with friends. We stayed in a wonderful small hotel right between the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia where I made some new friends.

One morning was spent sailing on the Bosporus and another day we were all over Topkapi palace. Oh, and I did get to the Grand Bazaar to buy a couple of kilims, one of which is pictured here.

La Maggiolata was celebrated here on the morning of May 1, starting at the Rocca shortly after midnight and stopping by under my window about 3:30 a.m. All the men singing their welcome to the month of May is not a tourist thing but something that's been done in this village since medieval times.
I can't believe how busy I've been and I hope I'm not in error in thinking that I have up to two months to renew my permesso di soggiorno I'll try to get up to the Siena questura next week. The workers are here doing the cantina now.
After a week of rain at the end of April, we now have spectacular weather. Witness the garden.
