The View from Il Loggino

Moving right along, the couch is now where it belongs (after cutting off the legs and nailing them back on and banging a few dents in the plaster on the stair landing). This does not bode well for getting the rest of the cartons unpacked. The picture is blurry as is my vision. Think I'll stretch out for a few minutes.

Spring is just around the corner. Went for a walk behind the village with my friends and saw that the ruins of the old castle are almost all cleaned up. After a great romp with the dogs, my friend Carmela felt like dancing.

This house is still very much a work in progress. I've unpacked dozens of cartons and still have dozens left. Sort of like Xmas morning not having seen this stuff for a year. I'll take today off and go to a porchetta festa at a local farm.

Tuscany is not unlovely in winter, but it is cold and windy. Spring is coming in a couple of weeks. The house is basically finished, but there is much to do: wax the floors, move furniture, buy supplies and other necessary items and take delivery of my container from New York. I've been back two days now and have had lunch and dinner with friends here in the Val d'Orcia, met with my contractor, filled up the car, done a little shopping, read the mail (some of it), and organized the kitchen a bit. I will curl up with homemade soup and a book and baby my jet lag for a day.
