This is actually the first time I've ever been in Italy during July and August. Some hints for enjoying yourselves here when it's so hot:
1) Follow Diva's advice, "Do one thing in the morning and one thing in the late afternoon." Plan on spending the time in between, from about two to five p.m., in the dark with the fan on. Get a nice long nap!
2) Get up at dawn and enjoy the glorious mornings. And stay up late in the cool of the evening into the star filled night.
Not having air conditioning (not even in my car!) makes for a natural, but slow, lifestyle.
Work on the house is going great guns and the sanded ceilings are starting to look wonderful. The garden, however, is suffering from the heat and water restrictions.
I'll post more pictures when there's some visible progress.
Last night I took my neighbors to I Poggioli in Buonconvento for a great meal and wonderful evening. If they're going to try to feed me lunch or dinner at least two or three times a week then I'm going to take them to my favorite restaurants as often as I can.
