A Chilly Day on the 'Spluga'
This was the scene that greeted us Thursday morning in the Val Chiavenna - dull, grey and decidedly damp. So we made the decision to go over the Spluga Pass as the forecast was that the weather was OK up there and a bit better over in Switzerland (Why do I ever believe these forecasters?)
Once up on the pass it was a bit grey, but the sun did try to break through (though not too hard I'm afraid). We got up to Montespluga (approx. 6000ft) where there are a couple of small hotels with bars and where hot chocolate is often the 'order of the day'. But we were well above the 'snow line' here and it got colder by the minute as you may well imagine.

Carole, despite the clouds, the photos are beautiful. Makes me long to be there!
