Friends, friends and now more friends!
This last week 'Terry, Northern Lake Como' (Expats), his wife Sharon and Holly their little girl were back over to their lovely little apartment near me. They had some British friends with them and were here for the week. We, the three of them and I went out for lunch yesterday as it was their last day 'til theChristmas season. We didn't know where to go, so decided to follow our noses and 'find somewhere'.....Suffice that it didn't involve a climb on narrow mountain roads with 'hair pin bends'! I had thought they may have enjoyed the Val Gerola which is near me and is one of the homes of the famous Valtellina cheese called Bitto. But the thought of a 'mountain' drive clearly put them off. So without more ado we crossed the River Adda which flows into Lake Como, and headed up the Costiera Dei Cech - a zone on the opposite side of the valley leading (eventually east towards Sondrio and Bormio). This side is far less industrialised and many villages are built quite high up the sides of the mountains..... This road runs above the road here between Colico and Sondrio.

Well after following our noses we finally found a newly rebuilt Agriturismo called "La Capretta" near to Talamona and the river.....

Despite the fact that it was Friday lunchtime, they were very busy but managed to 'fit us in'. We had the usual 'fayre' that one finds in such places - but did notice that other groups were being served with large 'skillets' which were put in the middle of the table and from which everyone ate. No individual plates at all. I asked what they were eating (didn't have my camera with me - damn!) and was told that one group had grilled goat with grilled vegetables and the other group had vitello alla griglia (grilled veal) with a smaller dish of potatoes cooked on the skillet and browned under the grill...I shall say no more! But I will be going back there - and soon!!!!
Now Terry and Sharon have gone home, I only have a week and 'friend' Pat and her husband Joe are back here. All arranged in the last week, though they have been thinking about it for some time. So they arrive on the 30th and are stayiing for a week. Oh I love having visitors.... It certainly spices what would otherwise be just ordinary days full of normal everyday things (even if I am doing them up here in such a beautiful place). 'Daily life' is just that - just full of 'daily tasks'. So any excuse to deviate from this and I'm there!
So now it's just another seven days and I shall be as happy as the 'proverbial'.......

I'm sure you know what I mean!
