The New Plants

Not very good photo's as you can't really see the gorgeous colours.

This top photo is of the pretty 'Ornamental Plum' tree that bardigiana (aka Ginger from Expats) bought me.
Behind it you can see the 'Quince' tree's beautiful coral coloured flowers. And all around the base of both 'a delightful selection' of cultivated weeds' - truly 'non plus ultra'....

Here is the lovely pink 'ortenzia' (hydrangea), also bought as a gift by Ginger... you can just see a little porcelain rabbit poking his ears above the edge of the flower trough on the left - he was attached to the hydrangea pot until Ginger gave him a transplant to the trough!

It's been a funny day today - They had forecast thunder and lightning with little or no rain for this afternoon...but nothing has happened. One or two dark clouds away to the north - over Switzerland. But the Alps have kept them away.

I'm almost ready for my guest on Saturday...it will be nice to see her again. We worked together (but in different locations) as call centre directors . Then Pat took early retirement after 32 years working for the company (she says she started there when she was TWO years old - hahaha.... )By that time I was 'trouble shooting' for them and one of my tasks was to re-evaluate her old centre and either expand it or close it.... I selected the latter!
Her husband, Jo - a Belgian - is not coming with her this time, so I told him that 'we two' would probably 'go out on the pull' - or at the very least go 'George Hunting'!!!! His only comment was "Oh good - peace at last! Just get what you can for her......she's not worth a lot" (this - needless to say, was followed by a sharp crack and an 'OUCH' from Jo!

Tomorrow is the Circolo Dei Anziani in the village...I understand that there will be a doctor giving us a talk on the role of grandparents in the care of their grandchildren.... Not of great import for me - but I can at least enjoy the company for a couple of hours.....I'll have to be sure to avoid the 92 year old Maria though...she is still intent on teaching me to play Poker and Briscola, and on teaching me how to cheat!!!!! She is convinced no one knows, but everyone has told me NOT TO LET HER TEACH ME TO PLAY CARDS 'COS SHE CHEATS! Hahahaha.... Posted by Picasa
