GOLLY-WHAT?
I know I'm getting old, and that I'm out of touch with today's slang, but honestly, if someone had called me a gollywog super model, I have to admit that I would not have been offended. Yeah, I know what the super model part means, and when it comes to Naomi Campbell that certainly means, rich, spoiled, temperamental...and worse. But 'gollywog'...what the heck is that? The BBC news anchor seemed to think it was a definite slur, so maybe it's one of those British terms that's just never made it across the pond. Or maybe I'm just old and out of touch....or maybe I'm just not in touch with racial epithets.
The BBC seems to have stopped showing the complete interview, but when I first saw it in it's entirety, Ms Campbell looked everywhere BUT at the interviewer or camera, and hey, you don't have to be a psychologist to know that she was lying...or maybe just living in her own fantasy world where everything is all about Naomi.
British Air has announced that Ms Campbell has been banned from flying with them in the future, and that's one of the few good reasons to consider flying with them. At least you won't have to worry about one super-rich, super-nasty super model disrupting your flight with a temper tantrum.
