Documents Needed for Shipping Goods

 

Before loading up be aware that to have a smooth importation of your personal goods, you will need to provide a series of documents, some of which can take months to get. Since this is such a pain, many moving companies can negotiate a bond fee with the tax authorities. 

If you do decide to get the documents in order before shipping, here is what you need:

• codice fiscale
• permesso di soggiorno (permit to stay);
   

In addition, for shipments originating from outside the EU:

• residenza (proof of residency in the EU);
• nulla osta TV-radio (from the questura - in case you will bring TV/radios);
• pagamento canone RAI (receipt of payment of national TV tax, again if you are bringing in TV/radios).
